About

David Rubin, founder of Wekiva Strong, saw the need to help his local heroes after witnessing all they did during hurricane Irma in 2017.  It was weeks and months of local firefighters, policemen and other volunteers who worked tirelessly to assure people in the community they would be safe, have the needed services and take care of one another.  These Heroes were spending so much time away from their own families, caring for others.  David decided to put on a local community event to thank these Heroes for everything they were doing.  Wekiva Strong continued into 2018 and with the help of more community members and businesses.  All types of Heroes were recognized and we showed our gratitude.  The event in 2018 created so much buzz, it was obvious this needed to grow on a much larger scale.

Wekiva Strong became Heroes Strong.

Let's all come together for a common cause:  to thank those that protect us, educate us, and serve us  - our Heroes!

The United States Code stipulates, “When a U.S. flag is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, it should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning.” We gather these Flags of our Country and of our States, which have been determined to be no longer serviceable.

We hold and participate in flag retiring ceremonies.
